Six killed in bus-truck head on collision in Bogura

Six people were killed and at least 10 others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Sherpur in Bogura.

The accident took place at around 5 am on Sunday (February 21) on the Bogura-Dhaka highway in the College Road area of Sherpur municipal town.

It is learned that a passenger bus of SR Paribahan bound for Bogura from Dhaka collided head-on with a truck loaded with stones while heading towards Bogura at a reckless speed. Six people, including the driver of the bus and truck died on the spot when the front of the bus and truck mingled. 10 more people were injured.

Upon receiving the news of the accident, the police and fire service personnel rescued the injured and admitted them to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Due to the accident, the traffic on Bogura-Dhaka highway is closed for one hour.

Baniul Anam, in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Outpost, told that the passenger bus collided with a truck coming from opposite direction while overtaking at a reckless speed. Traffic on the highway was closed after the accident. Later, when the police normalized the situation, the traffic resumed.
