President of Nepal is arriving Dhaka today
President of Nepal Vidya Devi Bhandari is arriving in Dhaka this morning (March 22) on a two-day visit to attend the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh.
The plane carrying her is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10 am. President Abdul Hamid will receive her there. The President of Nepal will be given a guard of honor. This is the first visit of a President of Nepal to Bangladesh. She will be accompanied by the country's Foreign Minister and foreign secretary as well as high-ranking officials.
After the formalities at the airport, Bhandari will visit the National Memorial in Savar in the morning. In the afternoon, she will meet Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She will then attend the National Parade Ground function. In the evening, she will meet the President of Bangladesh. Bilateral issues will be discussed. Several memoranda of understanding will be signed between the two countries in presence of both Presidents.
Regarding the possible agreements, a foreign ministry official said that the MoUs on four issues, including tourism and culture, have been finalized. He said Bangladesh wanted to finalize the preferential trade agreement with Nepal as soon as possible and the government would take up the matter during the visit.
