BNP is angry over government decision on Khaleda Zia
The BNP is frustrated and angry that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was not allowed to go abroad for better treatment.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this in a response on Sunday (May 9) night.
He said they were undoubtedly disappointed and angry at the government's negative decision. The government has taken this decision to keep Khaleda Zia away from politics in the continuation of 1/11.
Mirza Fakhrul said it was important to give permission not only for humanitarian reasons but also for political reasons. As Khaleda Zia was Prime Minister for three times. She is still the most popular leader in the country. There is no way to deny her contribution since independence. Unfortunately, the government has taken this decision to satisfy their vindictive politics.
Earlier on May 5, Khaleda Zia's younger brother Shamim Eskander applied to the Home Ministry for better treatment abroad. When the Home Ministry sent the application for the opinion of the Law Ministry, the Law Ministry said on Sunday that there was no chance in the case of Khaleda Zia. They said that there is no opportunity to go abroad for treatment as a convicted accused. In this regard, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Sunday afternoon that the opinion received from the Law Ministry did not allow her to be sent abroad.
Mirza Fakhrul added that Khaleda Zia will be able to breathe normally. A tube has been inserted through the mouth as fluid comes out of the lungs. According to a doctor on duty there, fluid is being sucked out from her lungs due to post-corona complications.
Expressing anger over the government's refusal to allow Khaleda Zia to receive medical treatment abroad, the BNP secretary general said Khaleda Zia had been convicted in a false case. Its purpose is to keep Khaleda Zia away from politics. He said when Khaleda Zia was released on executive order, the situation in corona was getting worse. In this condition there was no opportunity for treatment. The government did not do much good by releasing Khaleda Zia.
The BNP secretary general said there is ample scope for pardon within the law. For Khaleda Zia, their humanity did not work, etiquette did not work. She has become a victim of politics. Asked whether she would apply to the President, Mirza Fakhrul said the party had not applied. It will be up to his family to decide.
