Neglected dengue death rate alarming but ignored for Corona pandemic!
The number of dengue cases and deaths has increased in the capital in corona infection. Dengue patients are being admitted to hospitals with shock syndrome every day. As a result, the number of dengue deaths is increasing at an alarming rate. The horrors of dengue do not have the desired awareness.
Medical and health experts said, now if you have a fever and body aches, don't think about it and go for a test. Corona Negative is actually going to test for dengue. As a result, dengue is being delayed. During this time the common dengue fever is taking on a complex shape. Shock syndrome is appearing. With such a condition, it becomes difficult to save the patients in the hospital.
Visiting the Shishu Hospital in the capital, it is seen that at present 68 children are undergoing treatment in this hospital due to dengue. 8 of them are fighting for their lives while undergoing treatment in ICU. The on-duty nurses said that their condition deteriorated rapidly when they came to the hospital with shock syndrome.
In the last seven days, 84 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospital. So far 8 dengue patients under treatment have died in this hospital.
Asad Chowdhury, 16, is undergoing treatment for dengue in the men's ward of Holy Family Hospital. Corona was first tested for fever and body aches. Dengue test is done after coming negative. He was admitted to the hospital last Sunday after testing positive for dengue.
Asad's mother Lovely Chowdhury told Barta24.com that at first she stopped eating due to fever, body aches and vomiting. First a normal doctor is shown and a covet test is done. If nothing is caught in them, dengue test is done. Then I went to three hospitals and got treatment here without getting any bed. His body became very weak and he could not speak loudly having thirty thousand platelets in the body. Doctors said it's too late. So I'm very worried.
8-year-old Aksa has been undergoing treatment in the Shishu ward of the same hospital for eight days.
Although his condition is a bit better now, his father Nur Islam Chowdhury said that he was very worried till yesterday. However, both corona and dengue were tested. If dengue is positive, bring it here and get it admitted. The fever went down on Friday. Since then, platelets have been declining rapidly. Platelets dropped to at least 40,000. Now there are over one lakh platelets so I am feeling some relief.
Holy Family Hospital Deputy Director (Admin and Logistics) Prof. Dr. Anisuzzaman told Barta24.com that dengue patients who are not able to identify dengue in time come to the hospital with shock syndrome. Patients with shock syndrome may look fresher or better on the outside, but they end up much earlier on the inside. During this time the platelets in the patient's body start to decrease, the blood cells break down and the blood becomes water. After such a situation, there is not much to do with the patient in the hospital.
He said one of the people who died at Holy Family Hospital was an elderly woman and the others were suffering from a complex disease.
The doctor further said that there are two types of shock, reversible and irreversible. Dengue patients with reversible shock are cured with proper treatment. Again, if the reversible patient exceeds a certain level, it becomes irreversible. In this condition, the patient's brain, liver and kidneys do not work. In this case, the patient's hopes are dashed.
Doctors are talking about unconsciousness as the cause of death at an alarming rate due to dengue. Health experts also insist on 'neglecting dengue due to corona' behind the increase in dengue deaths.
What is the reason for the increase in dengue death rate this year? In response to the question of public health expert Dr. Lelin told Barta24.com that diseases like dengue usually decrease in the year following the epidemic. As it was less last year and more this time. This time the dengue patient is being neglected due to corona. Fever, body aches, everyone thinks they are going for a test. When the corona comes negative, the fever does not go away then go to the doctor. After receiving the report that the doctor gave the dengue test, it was delayed for five or six days. As a result, the death rate has increased.
It is to be mentioned that 306 more people were admitted to the hospital in 24 hours till 8 am on Wednesday due to dengue fever. This is the second time this year that more than 300 people have been infected with dengue.
At the same time, four more people died of dengue. So far, 30 people have died of dengue in the country. Of these, 12 died in July and 18 in August.
