International trade fair at Purbachal in January
The Ministry of Commerce has given approval to hold the 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in the eastern part of the capital.
The month-long fair will start at the exhibition center for the first time from January 1 next year. In a letter on Monday, the Commerce Ministry approved the EPB to host the fair.
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) had planned to organize a trade fair this year. But it could not be implemented as the spread of coronavirus was increasing.
EPB has been organizing this fair in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka since 1995. Hundreds of companies from home and abroad take part in it and display and sell their products. From this fair, the business organizations of the country also get many export orders.
The government started construction of the fair infrastructure in October 2017 on 20 acres of land in Sector 4 of the new town of Purbachal. China State Construction Engineering Corporation has built the infrastructure. It cost Tk. 773 crore.
