A Cumilla court on Saturday placed Iqbal Hossain on a seven-day remand for keeping the Holy Quran at a puja mandap in Cumilla.

Cumilla Senior Judicial Magistrate Mithila Jahan Nipa passed the remand order after police produced him (Iqbal) before the court and sought 10-day remand.

On Thursday, the youth was arrested from Sugandha Point in Cox's Bazar. A team of police took him to Cumilla on Friday morning after questioning at the SP’s office in Cox’s Bazar.

Police sent CCTV footage to the media last Wednesday (October 20) evening.

It showed a man named Iqbal Hossain (35) placing the Holy Quran in a temporary puja mandapa on the north bank of Nanua Dighi in Cumilla city on the eighth day of Durga Puja.
