‘13 years in power as elected by the people’: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that those who have played tricks with the people of Bangladesh in the past have been punished. The people of Bangladesh have been deprived of their power. And we have been able to complete 13 years of being elected by the people and have come to power three times in a row. It would not have been possible if it had not been elected by the people.
She said this while addressing a discussion meeting of Awami League on Tuesday (January 11) on the occasion of Bangabandhu's return to home. Sheikh Hasina presided over the discussion meeting at the party's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue by joining a video conference from Ganobhaban.
Mentioning that if Awami League is in power, the wheel of development of this country will remain dynamic, the Prime Minister said, there will be no place for murderers, war criminals and corrupt people in Bangla. They need to make this clear. "We will not allow anyone to play tricks with the rights of the people," she said.
The head of government said, "I will tell those who are looking for corruption today to see how much corruption has taken place since 2001." I would say to those who talk about debt defaulters, take the news first of all that the culture of creating debt defaulters has been created in this country to create elite class after Ziaur Rahman had come to power.
The Prime Minister said it is the habit of a class of people to stick against the Awami League only if it does a good job. Because those who did not want the independence of this country, who wanted to completely destroy Bangladesh, the development of Bangladesh by forming a government with murderers and war criminals, still have some ghosts in the society.
Sheikh Hasina said, "I would like to remind those who raised questions about the election today about the election on February 15 and Khaleda Zia's resignation. How do those who question the election today forget the February 15, 1996 election? What was the percentage of the vote? Four percent of the votes were not cast. Khaleda Zia is the third Prime Minister to fill the ballot box with seals by deploying army everywhere. The consequences of stealing people's votes! Their third prime minister has not been in power for three months. There was a mass uprising.
She said the BNP had a budget of Tk. 64,000 crore during its tenure, from which the present government has been able to give a budget of over Tk. 6 lakh crore which would not have been possible without economic development.
She also said that if there is no money to be spent then how can there be so much work. So those who do not see these are blindfolded. They do not see the development of the country, all praise Bangladesh as a role model of development in the international arena but it does not come to their notice. Because they can't eat by looting, that's their big deal. Their goal is to show the bones and skeletal people of the country and bring money from abroad and just loot and eat it.
