Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has complained that the news published about the land acquisition for Chandpur University of Science and Technology is untrue and motivated. "Neither I nor my family has any financial connection with the land acquisition," she said.

The Education Minister made the remarks at a press conference at her residence on Hare Road in the capital on Thursday (January 27) evening.

Education Minister Dipu Moni has claimed that my family has no place in the proposed place of Chandpur University of Science and Technology.

"I have no land in Chandpur purchase connection," she said. There might be some land in patriarchal sources. From the information I have, I can say that my elder brother sold the land before the acquisition. Neither I nor my family has land in that place of the university. A political colleague may have land. What has been published in the media is untrue and motivated.

"None of my family members are involved in any corruption," she said. However, it should be investigated whether anyone else has committed corruption. And action should be taken in accordance with the law.

Pointing to a local MP, the Minister said, "I don't want to talk about him in the media. I will say that in the party forum.”

In response to a question from a journalist about the investigation, Dipu Moni said that if the Ministry of Education investigates, questions will arise. So it is better if someone else investigates. I also want an investigation.

Incidentally, before the government acquired the land for the establishment of the University of Science and Technology in Chandpur, it has been alleged that the 62-and-a-half acres of land there was deeded at a price 20 times higher than the mouza price. The report has been published in the media. There are allegations that the people involved in the scam of taking extra Tk. 359 crore from the government are close to Education Minister Dipu Moni and her close relatives.

The Education Minister called a press conference in the face of allegations.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the accounts of huge amount of money spent on hiring lobbyists by BNP to destroy the country will be taken into account.

She said that they have hired lobbyists to destroy Bangladesh and mislead the people with false accusations and false information. They paid crores of dollars to a foreign firm - how did this money go abroad? They have to answer where it came from.

The Prime Minister made the remarks while addressing a discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's address on Thursday night (January 27) and on the concluding day of the 16th session.

The head of government said, they (BNP) have no responsibility towards the people of the country. Therefore, various conspiracies are being hatched to stop the progress of the country and to tarnish the image of the country. The BNP could do nothing but destroyed the country, loot it, create militancy and terrorism. But I have confidence and trust in the people of the country that the people of the country will not be misled by any untrue propaganda and lies. The country is moving forward, it must move forward.

Sheikh Hasina said the country is moving forward in all aspects, those who do not like it are destroying the country by hiring lobbyists by spending hundreds of crores of money in foreign currency. The BNP has to give an answer and explanation as to where such huge amount of money came from and how it was spent abroad. And to tarnish the image of the country, the cost of hiring lobbyists will be taken into account.

Regarding the election, the Prime Minister said the politics of the Awami League is to protect the voting rights of the people of the country, not to take them away. The election of Narayanganj City Corporation is a big proof of the fact that free, fair and neutral elections were held in the country during the Awami League government. The BNP had also tried various games in this election, but failed. The creation of an environment for fair elections in Bangladesh, preparation of pictorial voter lists, transparent ballot boxes, preservation of the people's right to vote are all fruits of the Awami League movement. During the tenure of Awami League fair and neutral elections were held in the country and the people's right to vote was guaranteed.

Regarding the US sanctions on RAB officials, the Prime Minister said that those who have been very effective in suppressing terrorism, militancy and extremism from the country, why have they become so bad? We do not blame the United States. BNP-Jamaat have spent hundreds of crores of money to protect war criminals, save Bangabandhu's killers, sabotage and question the elections, tarnish the image of the country and hire lobbyists, not for any good cause. Where did the BNP get so much money, how did it get there - the answer will have to be given by BNP one day.
