US is 'pleased' as Bangladesh welcomed new visa policy
The United States is 'pleased' that Bangladesh has welcomed the US visa policy. They look forward to furthering the relationship between the two countries.
Matthew Miller, the spokesman of the government said this at the regular press briefing of the US State Department on Thursday (May 25) local time.
He said, I will not say anything about what a political party should or should not do inside Bangladesh. However, the United States supports free, fair and peaceful elections in Bangladesh. And this is why the new visa policy has been announced for the election issue of Bangladesh.
Matthew Miller said, "We are delighted that Bangladesh has welcomed the visa policy announced by the US government. We believe that democracy is the most permanent way to advance peace, prosperity and security. That is why we have made this announcement. We look forward to working with the Government of Bangladesh to advance the relationship between our two countries."
Earlier, the US State Department announced a new visa policy for Bangladesh on Wednesday. Under this, if free and fair elections are not held in Bangladesh, those responsible and their family members will not get US visas.
