Khadem Mokhsur Rahman brought the leather collected from Abu Bakr Madrasa in Mirpur 60 feet area. He told Barta24.com that the owners of various houses in the area have donated the skins of their sacrificial animals to the madrasa. The government said the price is at least Tk. 1200. But came here and had to sell for Tk. 650.

Kauser Mia, a seasonal trader, complained like this Khadem of the madrasa. He bought 29 cow hides from Panthapath Kathal Bagan area. He told Barta24.com that leather in the area is Tk. 600 to Tk. 900 depending on the size. The average price of each leather including van rental is Tk. 800. Here, the wholesale traders said that the price of small leather is Tk. 700.

An official of Apex Tannery who came to buy leather said that seasonal traders bought leather at a price higher than the price set by the government. Now we are being blamed for buying leather at high prices.

Regarding the price set by the government, he said that the government has given the highest price of salt leather at Tk. 1200. The minimum given is Tk. 1000. But seasonal traders do not understand this and are asking more for raw leather.

Meanwhile, before Eid, the price of leather per square foot has been increased by Tk. 5 compared to last time and the minimum price per piece of leather has been set. In this case, the price of a copy of cowhide in Dhaka has been set at Tk. 1,200 taka and Tk. 1,000 outside Dhaka.
