The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances has submitted an interim report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

On Saturday (December 14) at 5:00 pm, the members of the commission of inquiry regarding the disappearance of the State Guest House Jamuna submitted this report to the Chief Advisor.

In the report submitted under the title 'Unfolding the Truth', the commission members said that out of the 1,676 complaints received so far, 758 complaints were scrutinized.

The commission has found evidence of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's involvement as a guide in the disappearance incident. In addition, the involvement of several senior officials of the Hasina administration has also been found; Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's defense advisor Major General (retd.) is among themTariq Ahmed Siddique, former Director General of National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) Major General Ziaul Ahsan and police officer Md. Monirul Islam and Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid.

The Commission has recommended abolition of RAB along with initiation of judicial process for missing persons.

Commission chief Mainul Islam Chowdhury said that the officials involved in the disappearances have done the work in such a way that it becomes difficult to identify them. The various forces exchanged casualties among themselves and executed the plan differently.

He also said that many victims of disappearance are still not free from fear. They were tortured so badly that they are still traumatized.

Noting that the number of reports has increased after the Chief Adviser in his latest statement assured protection and fair trial to the missing persons, the members of the commission requested Professor Yunus to visit the mirror.

They said victims can get relief if you visit the mirror. The Chief Adviser agreed to their request and said that in a short time he would visit the Joint Interrogation Cell known as Ayanaghar.

He thanked the commission members for their interim report and assured them of all necessary cooperation in taking the work forward.

Commission chief Moinul Islam Chowdhury said that they will give another interim report after three months in March. He said that at least one more year is required to complete the work and give the final report.

The member of the commission is a retired judge of the High Court. Farid Ahmed Shibli, human rights activist Noor Khan, BRAC University teacher Nabila Idris and human rights activist Sajjad Hossain were present on the occasion.

Advisor to Ministry of Housing and Public Works and Ministry of Industry Adilur Rahman Khan, Advisor to Social Welfare and Women and Child Affairs Sharmin S. Murshid were also present.

The university authorities have said that traffic will be restricted on the Dhaka University (DU) campus to ensure the safety of students.

The information was given in an urgent notification from the university's proctor's office on Saturday (December 14).

It said that no vehicles other than vehicles with Dhaka University stickers and emergency services (ambulances, doctors, patients, journalists and other government vehicles) will be allowed to enter the campus from 3 pm to 10 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays and from 5 pm to 10 pm on office days.

Sarjis Alam said that instead of punishing the police members who opened fire, lobbying for new postings is going on. Leaders of various political parties and senior officials of the administration are getting involved in the case trade. No one will be released if they betray the faith of the mass uprising. He also warned even the chief adviser Dr. Mohammad Yunus would not be spared.

He said, if the body of was not needed to be exhumed for the trial of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's murder, why should the bodies of the martyrs of July-August be exhumed? No more martyrs' bodies will be allowed to be exhumed.

Sarjis Alam said, those who do not cooperate in taking the murder cases of martyrs to trial will also be considered murderers.

Later, he handed over checks of financial assistance to the families of the martyrs of Rajshahi division in the July-August uprising. Out of the 63 martyr families of Rajshahi division, 46 families were given financial assistance from the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation. Each martyr's family was given a cheque of Tk. five lakh.

Narsingdi: There is a shortage of sufficient gas in the country. There will be no shortage of fertilizer if this gas crisis is over, Industry Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan has commented.

He said this in response to questions from journalists after visiting the Ghorashal Palash Urea Fertilizer Factory in Narsingdi on Saturday (December 14) afternoon.

At the time, the Industry Adviser said that gas has not been excavated in the last fifteen and a half years. Bapex was kept workless. Efforts are being made to extract gas from Bhola. At the same time, efforts are being made to meet the fertilizer shortage in the country. He mentioned that there are various obstacles in implementing the goal.
