Adviser on Environment, Forests and Climate Change Syeda Rizwana Hasan has sought UK assistance in implementing the National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
She called on the British High Commission for possible grant assistance under the Directorate of Environment’s initiative to curb noise pollution in Bangladesh.
Rizwana made the call during a meeting with British High Commissioner to Dhaka Sarah Cook at the Secretariat on Monday (November 11).
During the meeting, the adviser highlighted the ministry’s interest in UK cooperation in accessing and using Digital Sequencing Information (DSI) for environmental conservation.
During the meeting, they discussed key areas of cooperation between Bangladesh and the UK on important environmental and climate-related issues.
They also discussed climate resilience, bio-diversity conservation, sustainable water management and joint efforts to achieve Bangladesh’s environmental and climate goals.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships on climate action, particularly on advancing adaptation measures to mitigate the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations in Bangladesh. High Commissioner Cook reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s ambitions for a sustainable and climate-resilient future.
