The price of LP gas has increased due to the increase in international prices as well as the increase in the dollar rate. The price has increased by an average of 10 dollars per ton at the import level. On the other hand, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division increased the prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol and octane by Tk. 1 per liter in an executive order on February 1.

The price of LP gas was adjusted in two phases in January. Initially, the price was increased again after January 2 due to the increase in VAT. In January, although the price of the product fell in the international market, BERC initially kept the price unchanged due to the appreciation of the dollar. Compared to December, the average price of propane and butane per ton decreased by 13.33 dollars. Accordingly, the price was expected to decrease.

The first price of import-based LPG was announced on April 12, 2021. The order said that the base price would fluctuate if the Saudi price fluctuated. Other commissions would remain unchanged. Since the announcement, BERC has been announcing the price of LPG every month. However, there are allegations that LP gas is never available in the market at the price set by BERC.
