The students of Titumir College have withdrawn their agitation with a seven-day ultimatum.

The students of the college announced that they would withdraw their agitation by breaking their hunger strike to death, assuring that the government would take action on the Titumir University issue within the next 7 days.

On Monday (February 3) night, they broke their hunger strike in the presence of Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education Nuruzzaman and Principal of Government Titumir College Professor Shipra Rani Mandal. During this, they made the Principal and the students on hunger strike drink packaged mango juice.

Incidentally, the students of the institution had been agitating for several months demanding the conversion of Government Titumir College into a university. Various programs including processions, road and railway blockades, submission of memorandums, and class boycotts have been held for this demand. In view of which, a special committee was also formed by the Ministry of Education to examine the feasibility. However, after receiving no positive response recently, the students announced to hold various programs, including a hunger strike to death, from the afternoon of last Wednesday (January 29) to press for their demands.
