Dhaka: Inflation will come to a tolerable level in April. Its good impact will be seen in June, said the Finance Adviser to the interim government, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
He spoke after the meeting of the Advisery Council Committee on Government Procurement held at the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Tuesday (February 4) afternoon.
He said that we will have to wait another two-three months to bring inflation under control in the country. He also said that there will be no crisis of daily necessities. There is adequate supply.
Many people compare the economic situation in Bangladesh with that of Sri Lanka, but the Finance Adviser also commented that this is not right. He said, "However, out of the 60 banks in the country, only 12 are fully operational, the rest are being dug up. This also needs to be understood."
The Finance Adviser also said that VAT will be reviewed in the revised budget in March. At the time, the finance adviser also said that the additional duty on fruits will not be withdrawn as demanded by the fruit importers. He said, "Let them protest. There is nothing they can do."
