The court has banned Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, former local government, rural development and cooperative minister and former member of parliament from Faridpur-3 (Sadar) constituency, from leaving the country.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain issued the order on Monday (February 3) following an application by the ACC.
This news was reported from the court on Tuesday (February 4). The investigating officer of the case, ACC Deputy Director Md. Salahuddin, had applied for the ban.
The application said that a team has been formed to investigate the allegations of former Foreign Employment and Local Government Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain abusing power, embezzling government funds through various irregularities and corruption and acquiring assets beyond known income in his own name and the names of his family members. According to reliable sources, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain is trying to leave the country. It is necessary to prevent Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain from going abroad for the sake of a fair investigation. It was during this time that Mosharraf established a strong position in Faridpur politics. In 2015, he was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. However, when the Awami League formed the government again in 2019, he was no longer kept in the cabinet.
