Labor Court has issued an arrest warrant against Nobel laureate economist Dr Muhammad Yunus in cases filed by dismissed employees of Grameen Communications.
Rahibul Islam, chairman of the Third Labor Court of Dhaka, issued the arrest warrant. Dr Yunus was scheduled to defend himself in the court on Wednesday.
However, he did not appear in court as he was abroad.
Two other accused, the organization's managing director Naznin Sultana and Assistant General Manager Khandakar Abu Salehin, were granted bail they pleaded for upon surrendering before the court.
Earlier on July 3, three former employees of Grameen Communications filed cases in the third labor court in Dhaka against Mohammed Yunus among three persons.
