Khoka laid to eternal rest in Juraine graveyard
BNP’s vice–chairman and Mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation Sadeq Hossain Khoka was laid to eternal rest in Juraine graveyard after his fifth and last Janaza held at Dhupkhola field held in the evening on Thursday(Nov.7).
His body was placed in the grave at 7 pm evening. Before his burial, a valiant guerilla freedom fighter Khoka was given ‘guard of honor’ on behalf of the state. One minute silence was observed at that time.
At this time BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Mirza Abbas, Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku, vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon, brother of Sadeq Hosain Khoka Anowar Hossain Ujjal, son Ishraq Hosain, Ishfaq Hossain and other family members, BNP activists and a large number of people of all sections.
Earlier four more janaza were held at Jamaica Muslim center mosque, at South Plaza of JS, at BNP’s Puran Paltan office, at Nagar Bhavan, at Gopibag and at Dhupkhola ground.
It may be mentioned here that the body of Khoka arrived this morning from New York where he had been under treatment for cancer in kidney. He breathed his last on last November 4 in the hospital. Khoka was first elected to Jatiyo Sangsad in 1991 and later on was elected three more times from Dhaka -7 constituency. Khoka was minister twice of BNP government.
Khoka left Bangladesh for USA on May 14 of 2014 for treatment abroad. In his absence on last 28 of 2018 the Divisional Special Judge Mizanur Rahman Khan sentenced Sadeq Hossain Khoka to suffer ten year simple imprisonment along with four others for car parking lease of Banani Super market while he was Mayor.
