Officials and employees of 22 ministries and Upazila-level government employees have been canceled to tackle cyclone Bulbul, which is moving towards Bangladesh, the state minister for disaster and relief said.
Speaking at a press conference after a meeting of cyclone Bulbul monitoring cell at Secretariat on Friday (Nov 8), Dr Enamur Rahman said the government has taken all-out preparations to tackle the cyclone.
Met Office said cyclone Bulbul has intensified over the Bay of Bengal and is moving towards the Bangladeshi coast with a wind speed of up to 110-120 kilometres per hour.
It said the cyclone may intensify further and lash the coastal areas of Bangladesh and India’s West Bengal on Saturday (Nov 9).
State Minister Enamur said seven districts have been identified as risky. “Instruction has been given to prepare the cyclone centres in the coastal areas. Instruction has also been given to send 2,000 packets of dried food and Tk 500,000 in cash to every centre.”
