Ten Naogaon war heroines get recognition of Freedom Fighter

Ten war heroines of Ataikula Palpara village of Raninagar Upazilla under Naogaon district got the recognition of freedom fighters. Of them four were awarded posthumously because they already died due to prolong illness and poverty. They are Bani Rani Pal, Renu Bala, Khanto Rani Pal, and Shushama Rani Sutradhar.

The living war heroines are aged and sick Maya Rani Sutradhar, Rashmani Sutradhar, Sandhya Rani Pal, Kalidasi Pal, Sandhya Rani and Gota rani Pal who are surviving somehow with acute poverty and suffering with various health complications. They are struggling to survive. 

These 10 war heroines who lost their chastity in 1971, after 47 years they are getting the dignity of freedom fighters. But unfortunately four already left this world.

On April 25 of 1971 the hordes Pakistan army along with local collaborators Razakars attacked this village situated on the bank of river Choto Jamuna 7 kilometers away from RaniNagar Upazilla headquarter. The hordes killed 52 freedom loving villagers and repressed many women of this village.

In a gazette of Liberation War affairs ministry recently published the names of these 10 war heroines as freedom fighters.

Former Commander of Rani Nagar Mukti Joddhya Command Advocate Ismail Hossain said that we had to work lot for this recognition. On the next Victory Day the war heroines will be handed over certificates and other benefits as expected. 

Jatiyo Sangsad member of Naogaon -6 (Atrai- Raninagar) and joint secretary of district Awami League Md. Israfil Alam  told barta24.com that the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very much sincere about the freedom fighters, martyred families  and war heroines. It is our success that finally these war heroines got the recognitions of freedom fighters. I feel much elated.
