Victory Day celebrated in Faridpur
The 49th victory Day was celebrated here on Monday (Dec.16) across the district through various program with a renewed pledge to make the country prosperous and with the call to execute the vision -2021 of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The day’s program began with 31 gun salute at local police line along with hoisting of national flag atop all private and public buildings.
People of all ages and groups thronged at the martyred memorial plaque at Goalchamat area of the town to place floral wreaths to pay homage followed by a victory rally that marched to a mass grave located at the eastern side of Sheikh Jamal stadium.
Colorful march past and parade participated by police, BNCC, scout and other school students was held at the local stadium where the ceremonial flag was hoisted by Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar and Police Super Md. Alimuzzaman.
A reception function to accord honor to the families of the martyred and living freedom fighters was held at Kabi Jasimuddin hall. Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain MP and chairman of the Standing committee on ministry of LGRD & Cooperatives was the chief chaired by DC Atul Sarkar.
Special prayer was offered at the mosques, temples and churches. Improved diet was served at the jail, hospitals and orphan houses.
A fancy football match was held between DC XI and Pourashava XI was held at Sheikh Jamal stadium in the afternoon.
In the evening a discussion meeting on the universal implementation of the present ‘government’s digitalization program for making the country hunger and poverty free’ was held at Kabi Jasimuddin hall. Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain MP was the chief guest while it was chaired by DC Atul Sarkar.
Kh. Mosharraf in his address to the jam- packed audience said that the present government under the leadership of daughter of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been proceeding with a definite goal for achieving prosperity in a dignified manner.
Moshrraf also highlighted the sacrifices made by Bangabandhu during thePakistanperiod when he was imprisoned for years together for his uncompromising role of establishing the rights of the Bangalees.
Mosharraf said that the mega projects and the priority projects now under implementation under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina, we are sure to be a developed nation by 2041. He referred to the mega project ‘Padma Bridge’ which was once suspended but got on the basis of false allegation of corruption conspiracy but due to indomitable courage and determination of our leader Sheikh Hasina the dream bridge is now a reality, he added.
The way our country is moving ahead we are sure that we will achieve the target of becoming a middle income country by 2021, Kh. Mosharraf said.
The discussion meeting was also addressed among others Police Super Md. Alimuzzaman, district Awami League president Advocate Subal Saha, Prof Md. Shahjahan, Pourashava Mayor Shaikh Mahatab Ali Methu, Rajendra College principal Professor Musharraf Ali and professor Jesmine Shikha.
Prizes were distributed among the winners of Shishu academy on different cultural events organized in connection of victory day. Later on it was followed by a cultural function presented by Faridpur Shilpakala academy.
