Pankaj seeks PM’s executive order to defer city polls date
Ruling party MP Pankaj Devnath has requested the Prime Minister that the date of scheduling upcoming city polls on the day of Sarsawati Puja is a conspiracy or not should be investigated because knowing it fully well that the members of the Hindu community always vote for boat so they shall be kept busy in the name of worship.
He said this during a discussion on the President's speech on Thursday (Jan. 16) in the 6th session of the 11th Parliament. Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury was presiding the session..
Pankaj Debnath said the vote could be deferred for two days. The fifth day of the Shukla Dasmi is on January 19 from 8am to 9am till January 30. The Prime Minister always says that I have run with books in Saraswati Puja, to pray for the blessings of the keeping wood-apple leaf into the books, if the examination can be deferred for two days.
He said that the order of shifting the election date could be obtained through appeal to the Higher Court and the Prime Minister could do so also through executive order. I believe the minority community Hindus vote for boat. The person who is busy with worship may take some time to vote. Scheduling poll date on January 30 is a conspiracy or not should be investigated into. So, we demand the deferment for two days so that we can vote freely and can do worship.
