e-passport fee finalized and required documents for e-passport
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate e-passport on January 22 next at a function to be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said.
He made the announcement at a press conference on Sunday (Jan. 19) in the conference room of the Home Ministry.
The e-passport has the ability to verify a person's actual information in the machine in just 30 seconds. The passport department and the army are doing this jointly.
e-Passport Fee:
For applicants in Bangladesh, the 48-page 5-year term normal e-passport fee is Taka 3500, urgent passport fee is Taka 5500 and most urgent fee is Taka7500 and 5-year period is ordinary fee of Taka 5000, urgent fee is Taka 7000 while most urgent fee is Taka 9000.
Besides, for Bangladeshi applicants, the 64 page 5-year term normal fee is Taka 5500, urgent fee is Taka 7500 and most urgent fee is Taka 10000 and 10 –year term normal fee is Taka 7000 urgent fee is Taka 9000 while most urgent fee Taka 12000.
In case of a new passport, 3 days will be required in case of most urgent, 7 days in case of urgent and 21 days for normal passport application. However, in case of re-issue of old or expired passport, most urgent passport will be given within 2 days, urgent passport within 3 days and normal passport within 7 days.
Besides, different e-passport fees have been fixed for general applicants, workers and students at Bangladesh Embassy abroad. For general applicants at the Bangladesh Embassy abroad, the 48-page 5-year term normal fee is US $ 100 and the urgent fee is US $ 150. The 10-year term normal fee has been fixed at US $ 125 and the urgent fee is US $ 175.
For general applicants at the Bangladesh Embassy abroad, a 64-page 5-year term normal fee is US $ 150 and urgent fee is US $ 200 and a 10 -year term normal fee is US $ 175 and urgent fee has been fixed at US $ 225.
Required documents for apply:
The e-passport application form can be filled online or by downloading the PDF format. It does not require any picture and will not require any kind of attestation of papers. Photo copy of National Identity Card (NID) in the case of adult and Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) in case of the minors along with the photo copies of NID of parents have been made mandatory.
Fingerprints two hands, picture and eye-catching Irish features of eye will be taken at the time of receiving the application. Detailed application rules have been uploaded in the website of the directorate.
The use of MRPs along with e-passports will continue till the current conventional MRPs are fully replaced in e-passport and automatic border control management.
