Alleged bribe scam in the highups of DMP!
Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shafiqul Islam has been offered a 'percentage' (facilities) as bribe by Joint Commissioner of Police (Logistics) Md. Imam Hossain.
A request letter has been sent to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Benazir Ahmed from the DMP Commissioner to transfer the said officer. On last May 30, the DMP commissioner wrote such a letter on the pad of the DMP headquarters, Memorandum No. DMP (HQ) / Administration / A-51-2020 / 1008. A copy of the letter has already gone viral on social media Facebook. The accused police officer is a subordinate officer to the DMP commissioner.
In the letter to the IGP, the DMP commissioner said, "It is learned that the DMP's Joint Commissioner of Police (Logistics) Md. Imam Hossain is a corrupt official. There are allegations of irregularities against him in various purchases of DMP. In addition, he has placed a proposal to the Commissioner of Police himself to accept a percentage on DMP purchases. As a result, it seems that it is not appropriate to retain that officer working in DMP. Under this situation, he was requested to take necessary steps to transfer him elsewhere on an urgent basis.
Meanwhile, though the authenticity of the letter could be confirmed but no statement was received from the Police Headquarters or DMP.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Logistics) Imam Hossain when tried to contact on his cell phone, he repeatedly disconnected the calls.
On the other hand, DMP Media Center did not want to comment on the matter.
Sohail Rana, AIG of the Police Headquarters told Barta24.com that the Police Headquarters has not yet received any such letter. However, every organization has some administrative issues. That is solved proper administrative way.
