Thirty eight areas of the capital brought under ‘Lockdown’ program
The government has taken measure of area-based lockdown to curb the coronavirus infection situation. Sanitation and legal measures will be implemented in different parts of the country including Dhaka by identifying the red zone, yellow zone and green zone considering the prevalence of the disease.
Following the announcement from the top echelons of the government, the Ministry of Health's website is showing 38 areas of Dhaka as partial lockdown (considered yellow zone). However, 11 areas are being shown as not lockdown (considered green zone). So far no area is being shown as a complete lockdown (considered a red zone).
According to the latest updated list on the ministry's website on Saturday (June 6), the 38 areas identified as partial lockdown are Adabar Thana, Uttara East, Uttara West, Wari, Kadamtali, Kalabagan, Kafrul, Kamrangirchar, Kotwali, Khilkhet, Gulshan, Gandaria, Chawkbazar, Demra, Tejgaon, Tejgaon Industrial Area, Dakshin Khan, Darussalam, Dhanmondi, Newmarket, Paltan Model, Pallabi, Bangshal, Badda, Bimanbandar, Bhatara, Mirpur Model, Mugda, Mohammadpur, Jatrabari, Ramna Model, Ramna, Sharaba, Lalbagh Nagar, Sabujbagh, Sutrapur and Hazaribagh thana areas.
The 11 areas identified as no lockdown are Uttarkhan Thana, Cantonment Thana, Khilgaon, Turag, Banani, Bahantech, Motijheel, Rampura, Rupnagar, Shahbag and Shampur Thana.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that the lockdown would begin on a trial basis in some parts of Dhaka city from Sunday (June 7). The most affected areas will be marked as red, the least affected areas as yellow and the most least affected areas as green zone. The red zone will be locked down, although there will be warnings in the green zone and measures to prevent further infections in the yellow zone. The police will be strict in this zone as per the special guidelines of the Corona to observe the hygiene rules and prevent the movement of the public.
According to the latest figures from the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) of the Department of Health, 20,707 coronavirus patients have been identified in Dhaka district. Of these, 19,327 people were affected in Dhaka metropolis. The highest number of corona infected patients in the city so far has been found in Mirpur area. There, 969 patients with corona have been identified.
The second highest number of infected patients was found in Mohakhali. So far 457 people have been identified as infected. Uttara, Mugda and Mohammadpur are next in the list of victims. The number of victims in these three areas is 433, 426 and 394 respectively.
The remaining areas with the highest number of infected patients are Jatrabari (36), Kakrail (300), Dhanmondi (294), Magbazar (255), Tejgaon (251), Rajarbagh (221), Khilgaon (219 people), Lalbagh (206 people), Rampura (198 people), Badda (195 people), Malibagh (164 people), Gulshan (183 people), Babubazar (182 people), Gandaria (142 people), Wari ( 124), Basabo (122), Bangshal (109) and Agargaon (106).
Outside Dhaka, the most affected patients have so far been identified in Chittagong, Narayanganj, Comilla, Gazipur and Cox's Bazar. According to the latest IEDCR figures, the number of victims in these five districts is 265, 2480, 1163, 1150 and 989 respectively. In these districts too, the red zone can be identified by the top area of infection.
According to the latest bulletin from the Department of Health, 63,026 people have been infected with corona in the country so far. Of these, 2,635 people have been infected in the last 24 hours. Of the infected, 846 died. Of these, 35 people have died in the last 24 hour.
