Ferry movement suspended in Shimulia-Kathalbari channel

The installation work of the 31st span of Padma Bridge along the middle of Shimulia-Kanthalbari river channel has started. Movement of all types of ferries, launches, speedboats, trawlers through Shimulia-Kanthalbari channel will remain completely suspended from 11 am to 6 pm today (Wednesday). The 31st span will be set on the 25th and 26th pillars.

Padma Bridge Executive Engineer Dewan Abdul Quader informed Barta24.com about the matter.

Meanwhile, if the 31st span out of 41 spans is installed, 10 more spans will be left to be set. New targets have been set for the installation of all spans by November this year.

Meanwhile China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese firm, is working on the construction of the main bridge and Sino Hydro Corporation, another company of China is working on river training. The construction work of Padma Bridge started in December 2014.
