Prime Minister instructs to set up virtual system in all prisons
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to set up virtual system inside all the prisons of the country to facilitate judicial proceedings. She said a virtual system should be set up inside the jail so that cases can be conducted in digital way if necessary.
The Prime Minister gave the directive at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Sunday (June 21). Planning Minister MA Mannan told reporters after the meeting.
Highlighting the directives of the Prime Minister, Planning Minister MA Mannan said that during discussion on the Jamalpur Jail project, the Prime Minister said that virtual courts should be set up in Jamalpur Jail so that case conducting could be digitized. Not only in Jamalpur but also other district jails should have overall virtual facilities. There is no need to take the accused from jail. Sitting there, the trial will be held virtually. There are some prisoners who are not taken to court for security reasons. She (Prime Minister) said to put virtual system in all prisons.
Highlighting the Prime Minister's directive to increase the facilities in the jail, the Planning Minister said that there should be a fan and facilities for watching TV. And those who make products in prisons should get 50 percent profit from the sale proceeds of those products. It can be taken home. All prisons have to do it. Reforms needs not only Jamalpur prison but also other prisons need to be reformed. We have to build a modern system so that the inmates of the prison can live in a fair standard. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the concerned people to keep a close watch on the issue of not collecting bills (money) just by lifting a little soil from the banks in the name of excavating canals and ponds.
The planning minister said she (the prime minister) had told him that in the name of cutting canals, in the name of pond re-excavation, she had seen the news that the banks had only been cut. She told the ministry to look into the matter seriously. She directed to look into the matter so that no one can draw bills just shaving the banks in the name of excavating canals and ponds.
