Why corona sample test is decreasing in the country?
The number and scope of coronavirus testing is decreasing day by day in the country. According to the regular bulletin of the Directorate of Health, on July 2, 18,337 samples were tested across the country and the number of infected people was reported as 4,019. The next day, on July 3, 14,750 samples were tested and 3114 people were infected. Then the number of sample tests on each day decreased for a week in a row. The examination rate has come down to 13 to 14 thousand where the government's target was to test 20,000 samples every day.
Meanwhile, with the decrease in the rate of sample testing, the number of infection is also coming down. As the rate of infection and sample testing is declining, many questions have arisen in the minds of the people. Many people think that the incidence of corona has decreased in the country. Again some said that the number of sample tests has been reduced due to the scarcity of test kits so the number of infected is also showing less.
Medical experts said that the trend of infection in the country cannot be reduced. Tests should increase, but it is not increasing. Where there are more infected people, the test should be increased there. If necessary, medical technologists have to go and collect samples. Where test growth is declining, it's not a good sign. The government has to arrange the test. There have been 76 laboratories. Now there is no difficulty in the test. Now you have to do 20 thousand tests every day. This will keep the infection under control.
While talking to Deputy Director (Acting) of the Disease Control Branch of the Department of Health and Member Secretary of the Central Technical Committee for Corona Prevention Dr. Zahirul Karim considered introduction of testing fee as the main reason for the reduction in corona sample testing.
Dr. Zahirul Karim told Barta24.com that since the fee was fixed in the sample test, the test rate has come down by several thousand. Due to this the number of infection has also decreased. Many asymptomatic positive and enthusiastic people are no longer testing samples because they are not available for free. So it is normal for the infection to decrease. As many as asymptomatic positive people are among those who have been infected.
Those who are asymptomatic positive but are not testing because of money, they are a threat to public health? In response to such a question, Dr. Karim said, there is a debate on this matter. The World Health Organization said in a press conference one day that others are infected through asymptomatic infections. Later another day it reported that others are not infected through asymptomatic infections.
Is the test rate decreasing due to the shortage of test kits? When asked, he said, there is no shortage of test kits. Now with the present stock sample can be tested for one more month if it is tested as it is. A flight with testing kits will also arrive in the country on Saturday (July 11).
However, the kit importers are not giving the supply the way they gave in the beginning, said Dr. Zahirul Karim.
He said, the companies are almost in a state of financial problems as they are not paid bills for the supplied kits. From the institutions from which the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) collects kits and gives them to the government, almost every one of those institutions owe Taka two to three hundred crore from the Central Medical Supply Depot (CMSD). Not getting money from the government, CMSD is put under complication. So far in the country CMSD can only buy kits. In this case, if they do not get the rest of the kit, then a problem may arise.
The official of the health department further said that now the tests are done through the PCR lab which is a matter of time and expense. It is not possible to install PCR everywhere. To increase the number of tests, district-based PCR machines are being installed and arrangements are being made to conduct tests at the upazilla level through rapid testing kits. A proposal in this regard has also been sent to the concerned ministry.
It is to be mentioned that according to the information of the health bulletin of 2.30 pm on Wednesday, 13488 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours. Of these, 2,949 have been identified as infected. A total of 1 lakh 78 thousand 443 people have been identified as infected from corona. The total death toll was 2,275. 86 thousand 406 people have recovered. So far 9 lakh 18 thousand 272 samples have been tested.
