Govt is destroying nation's future: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the present government is destroying the future of the nation.
He said this at a discussion meeting on the occasion of the 16th jail release day of Deshanayak Tarek Rahman, Acting Chairman of BNP organized by Bangladesh Students Forum and North Bengal Students Forum at Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Monday (September 4).
Secretary General said, this government is making the state a failed state. The government must be defeated and a government of the people to be brought in. If we can't do that then we can't bring Tariq Rahman back to the country. Khaleda Zia is very sick. The doctor said to take her outside the country for treatment. But this government is not allowing it. She is under house arrest by the government.
The Secretary General also said that this government is completely without the people's mandate. Their aim is to take away the achievements of Bangladesh, they have taken it. In the one-point demand that we made a few days ago, it was said that we want the resignation of the government led by Sheikh Hasina. He then said, "Why do you have to resign?" What is my crime? Your crime is many, it is uncountable. I want to say a crime, that is, you have killed the soul of the country.
He also said that this terrible government must be suppressed and resistance must be built. Let us move forward towards that goal. You have to put your life at stake and move forward to win. Tariq Rahman should be brought back to the country. The contribution of the youth has been the greatest in what we have achieved. From that language movement to the liberation war, the contribution of the youth was undeniable.
Apart from BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Senior Joint Secretary General of the party Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also spoke.
Rizvi said that Tariq Rahman was a target of domestic and international evil forces. They tried to hang Tariq Rahman that day. They wanted to destroy the nationalist power that this country has. We are the leaders; every day we have to go to court and try to do our justice very fast. It started from 2007.
BNP Standing Committee Member Babu Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, BNP Joint Organizing Secretary Abdul Khalek, BNP Joint Publicity Secretary Amirul Islam Khan Alim, BNP National Executive Committee Member Barrister Mir Hilal Uddin and others were also present.
