India's duplicity is condemnable and objectionable: Asif Nazrul
Professor Asif Nazrul, law adviser to the interim government, said that numerous atrocities are being committed against the minority Muslim community in India's own soil. They have no hesitation or remorse about it. India is expressing undue concern about the situation in Bangladesh. India's duplicity is condemnable and objectionable.
He made this comment in a post on his Facebook page on Friday (November 29).
Quoting a survey by Voice of America Bangla, the law adviser said that most people in Bangladesh (64.1 percent) believe that the interim government is able to provide more security to the country's minority population than the previous Awami League government. We have also seen for ourselves how the people of Bangladesh, including student organizations, madrasas and political parties, worked for the security of minorities during the recent Durga Puja. Most recently, even after the brutal and provocative murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chattogram, Muslims in Bangladesh have shown infinite restraint and patience.
The law adviser further said, even then, India's unwanted concern over the situation in Bangladesh has not stopped. Numerous atrocities against the minority Muslim community are taking place on India's own soil. Yet they have no shame or remorse about it. This hypocrisy of India is condemnable and objectionable.
It is worth noting that the Indian government and the country's opposition political party Congress have expressed deep concern over the arrest of Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson and ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in a sedition case. Along with this, the party has also expressed concern over the 'insecurity' of religious minorities in Bangladesh.
