High Court issues rule on retaining GM Quader as chairman of JP
High Court has issued rule on the retention of GM Quader as the chairman of Jatiyo Party (JP). High Court has wanted to know why his retention in the post as chairman shall not be illegal.
GM Quader and the concerned have been asked to reply of the rule within next four weeks time.
On Tuesday (Dec.24) after a primary hearing of a writ petition, the vacation bench of the High Court division consisting Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md. Khairul Alam issued the rule.
A JP leader Mohammad Jahiruddin filed the writ petition. Senior lawyer Abdul Matin Khasru was in favor of the writ while Deputy attorney general Nur us Sadik represented the state.
Abdul Matin Khasru confirmed the matter of writ. He said that according to the constitution of JP the party chairman shall be an elected person. But GM Quader is performing the responsibilities of chairman without being elected. His retention in the post is illegal and without having any authority.
