ICC announces expansion of men’s T20 and WC tournaments

The ICC on Tuesday announced the decision to expand the men's ODI Cricket World Cup to 14 teams for the 2027 and 2031 editions. In a release, the ICC also said that the men's T20 World Cup will be expanded to 20 teams and will take place every two years from 2024-2030.

The ICC also announced the return of the Champions Trophy tournament scheduled to take place in 2025 and 2029, with eight teams participating in the tournament.

Only 10 teams had contested the 2019 World Cup, won by hosts England, compared to 14 four years earlier.
