Shakib expands business out of cricket ground
Country's number one cricketer Shakib Al Hasan who is popularly known as 'poster boy of cricket' is increasing his business organization day by day in home and abroad. However, he is not so successful in business which he made in the cricket ground.
Shakib Al Hasan started his business career through restaurant business. Later, he invested in stock market, power station, cosmetics, travel agency, hotel, event management and crab farm in the country. The world’s best all-rounder has also invested in the United States and Saudi Arabia. He is now a big business-entrepreneur of the country.
According to the vernacular business daily Banik Barta report, Shakib Al Hasan has recently got approval of a stock brokerage house under Dhaka Stock Exchange named Monarch Holdings. He has been performing the duty of goodwill ambassador of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission since 2017. Shakib is the chairman of Monarch Holdings. It's one of the director is Kazi Sadia Hasan, wife of Abul Khayer Hero, a big player of Bangladesh stock market and also an official of cooperatives directorate.
Shakib's NEL-RML-SNEPSCL energy consortium had proposed to Bangladesh Power Development Board few years ago to provide power for 15 years from dual-fuel based Shikalbaha 200MW power station. However, it is not accepted so far for incomplete application.
In 2015, Shakib inaugurated Shakib's Dine restaurant in the capital's Banani. Later he sold the restaurant. Besides, Shakib has two more restaurants in Mirpur and Dhanmondi named Shakib's 75.
Shakib’s crab farm sits on a 14-acre land in Datinakhali area under Burigoalini union of Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district under Shakib Agro Farm Limited which started its journey in 2016. The farm is closed as the farm incurred losses. There is no signboard of the company in the project area.
The all-rounder had opened a cosmetics shop named Cosmic Jovian at Jamuna Future Park because of his spouse Umme Ahmed Shisir's interest. However, the shop remained closed for long days.
In 2015, Shakib joined with Fiesta Event Management as its chairman. An allegation was brought against Fiesta Event Management on charge of human trafficking in Japan in the name of cultural shows.
After 2018, Shakib visited Saudi Arabia several times and bought several residential hotels for business purposes targeting Bangladeshi pilgrims. He later in 2020, inaugurated Shah-75 Tours and Travel Management travel agency which has been closed due to ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The number one cricketer of the country has signed an agreement to buy 20,000 square feet of commercial space at White Sand Resort Cum Shopping Mall in Cox's Bazar in 2018.
Shakib has been playing franchise cricket leagues in many countries including Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2009. He earned a lot of money from these franchise leagues. He is also earning from many private commercial banks and organizations working as goodwill ambassador and product ambassador.
According to CricTracker.com, Shakib's net worth was US $ 3.5 crore in 2016 and according to Cloudnetworth his net worth was US $ 3.60 crore in 2019. On the other hand, Net Worth Idea amounted Shakib's net worth is around US $ 4 crore in 2021, which is equivalent to Tk 340 crore.
However, Shakib is now expanding his business in the United States and other countries as he incurring losses in the domestic business organizations.
