BCB serves legal notice to Sakib, GP
Bangladesh Cricket Board BCB has sentlegal notice against Sakib Al Hasan and Grameenphone for violating rules.
Sakib is brand ambassador of Grameenphone.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon said Sakib can't make such deal with a telecom company that is clearly written in the contract he signed with us.
BCB president said: "Our title sponsor is Robi. Grameenphone didn't bid for title sponsorship. Instead they contracted some of our cricketers with TK1 crore-TK2 crore each."
As a result BCB has lost TK90 crore in the last three years, Papon said.
He said some player would be benefitted, and for that the board would count loss, that can't be accepted.
Papon said from now on the players have to inform in black and white if they sign any such contracts with any other organizations.
"Not only that, it is mentioned our contract with the players that they shall not sign any contract with any telecom company without informing the ministry," Papon said.
"Then why would they sign such contract without consulting us?" Papon wondered.
He said we would not spare anyone in this matter.
The BCB president also said he would claim compensation for the loss of the board due to this contract.
Papon said we have asked for explanation from Sakib.
If it seems that he thinks the board is worth disregarding we would take stern action against him, Papon also said.
BCB's chief executive however in completely in dark about the contract, sayin " we are not informed about the contract. We discourage players not to sign any deal that can be contradictory to the interest of the board."
He said, "the title sponsor of the board is Uniliver. But our contract would expire with them soon. At this moment, telecom companies will not be interested to contract with the board, if they find some players to contract with."
