Bangladesh Under-19 team has been given a heroes welcome at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium after they returned home being champions of the ICC Under-19 World Cup at South Africa.

Reaching the stadium, Bangladesh Under-19 team has been welcomed by a huge crowd. The fans were allowed to let in after the team reached the stadium. The crowd was heard chanting 'Champions! Champions!'

The team then took a walk on the red carpet in the stadium and cut a cake to celebrate their momentous achievement. This celebration will be followed by an official press conference which will be attended by U-19 skipper Akbar Ali, Coach Navid Nawaz and BCB President Nazmul Hassan.

World Champion Bangladesh U-19 team returned from a triumphant campaign of South Africa. The flight carrying the squad touched down at Dhaka at 5 pm.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell and BCB President Nazmul Hasan, received the team.

Processions from the fans followed the team bus while leaving the airport.

After the formalities, the team is now on its way to BCB. Coach Navid Nawaz and Captain Akbar Ali will take part in a press conference which will be followed by an official dinner.

Regarding the arrangements, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that the board did what it could to give the team a proper welcome.

The boys have been away for a while. We wanted to welcome them with the best we could arrange in such short notice. We would try to send them home as early as possible after the formalities.

The boys will stay at the Academy Building on BCB premises. But those who live in Dhaka will leave for home.

Meanwhile, BCB decided to renew the contracts of the coaching staff of the U-19 team.

We decided earlier to renew the contract. We would continue with most of them. The foreign expert will also continue working with us, added the CEO.
