Rice prices are rising in the retail market of the capital Dhaka. The price of fine and medium sized rice has gone up by two to three takas per kg during the week. Rice retailers said that the price of rice is rising in the wholesale and retail markets due to the increase in the price of rice from the mill stage. Buyers said the market needs to be monitored. Otherwise, the buyer's sufferings will increase.
Meanwhile, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), a government agency, said on Sunday that fine rice was being sold at 2.48 percent more per kg in this week. Medium sized rice is being sold at 2.91 percent more per kg.
Talking to retailers in the capital market, it has been learned that the minimum price of rice per kg was earlier Tk. 56 but now it is being sold at Tk. 58-59. Medium-sized rice was sold at Tk. 57 per kg, up from Tk. 55 a week ago.
Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Matikata area of the capital, said that now the price of everything has gone up. If the price of rice increases again, it will be difficult. What will people eat and live!
Meanwhile, officials of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate said that the market is being monitored by the department to keep the prices of the products consumer-friendly. They say the irregularities are being brought under the law as soon as they come to light. As a result, the prices of some products have started falling.
