The White House has confirmed that Ukraine is using US cluster bombs against Russian forces.
White House spokesman John Kirby said U.S. cluster bombs are being used effectively in Russia's defensive positions and operations.
Confirming that Ukraine is using cluster bombs properly, John Kirby said that Ukraine is using cluster bombs effectively against Russian forces. They (Ukraine) are actually influencing Russia's defense system and strategy.
Cluster bombs are a type of lethal weapon. It contains multiple explosives or bombs. A cluster bomb canister (looks like a rocket) can carry anywhere from 10 to hundreds of small bombs. Canisters can be fired from aircraft, artillery, naval guns or rocket launchers. Cluster bombs were first used during World War II.
Cluster bombs are so dangerous that more than 120 countries have banned their use. But the US is still supplying these bombs to Ukraine. US allies and the United Nations also condemned the decision. President Joe Biden, however, said it took him days to make the tough decision. But President Biden has justified the decision saying that it is not possible for Washington to keep Ukraine defenseless because of running out of weapons.
Meanwhile, if cluster bombs are used against Russian troops, Moscow will give a sharp response. Russian President Vladimir Putin himself has threatened to retaliate with cluster bombs if necessary. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Federation has sufficient stockpiles of various types of cluster munitions. We have never used these weapons before.
Putin said that Russia also has the right to use this bomb if it is used against Russian forces. If they use this bomb against us, we certainly reserve the right to use it as a countermeasure.
