At least 25 killed in a train crash in Pakistan

At least 25 people died when a passenger train overturned in Pakistan, the country's media The Dawn reported.

According to Pakistani media sources, the accident took place on Sunday after several compartments of the train derailed.

They also said that at least 80 passengers were injured in the accident.

According to Pakistani media The Dawn, the name of the train involved in the accident was 'Hazara Express'. The train was traveling from Karachi to Rawalpindi on Sunday. The accident took place shortly before the Sarhari railway station signal at a place called Nawabsha.

At least five compartments of the train overturned after the derailment, Dawn reported.

According to several other media sources, the number of overturned compartments is 8 to 10.

When Mohsin Sial, Divisional Commercial Officer of Pakistan Railways was asked in this regard, he said, "I have left for the spot after getting the news. Still don't know how many compartments have been turned over. I have not yet received any information from the Railways.

The Pakistani government did not say anything about the number of casualties till 3:30 pm on Sunday. However, Dawn reported that at least 40 passengers were injured in the accident.

When contacted over the phone, DIG Shahid Benzirabad did not want to comment on the number of casualties.
