At least 14 people were killed when a plane crashed in the northern Amazon region of Brazil.
The accident happened on Saturday (September 16) local time in Barcelos region of Amazonas state.

Amazonas state governor Wilson Lima said the crash site is located in the Barcelós region of Brazil's northern state of Amazonas. The region is located about 400 kilometers from the state capital Manaus. The company that owns the aircraft is Manaus Aerotaxi.
Confirming the death toll, Wilson Lima wrote on social media X (formerly Twitter), "I am deeply saddened by the loss of 12 passengers and two crew members in a plane crash in Barcelona last Saturday." He said the rescue team of the state is continuing the overall rescue operation to find out if anyone is alive.
Manaus AirTaxi airline issued a statement confirming 14 deaths. An investigation has been started to find out how the accident happened. Small planes or air taxis operate for short distances in Brazil. The plane that crashed was supposed to provide the same service. This aircraft had the capacity to carry a total of 18 people.
