The US has imposed sanctions and visa restrictions on 37 individuals of 13 countries for human rights violations.

The US administration made this announcement ahead of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights Day on Friday (December 8).

The embargo list includes citizens of Iran, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Syria, Uganda, Central African Republic, Zimbabwe, Congo, Haiti, Liberia, Russia, China, South Sudan and Sudan.

The country's foreign minister Anthony Blinken said that the ban will be implemented jointly with the United Kingdom and Canada.

The U.S. Treasury and State Departments sanctioned more than 150 individuals and organizations last year for human rights violations. Their US assets have been seized.

It should be noted that on December 10, 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations in the French capital Paris, announced the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration sets out a standard of human rights and freedom for all.
