Tk 20,000-100,000 reward for information on saboteurs, says IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has said that a reward of Tk 20,000 will be given for information about the saboteurs of the election. It may go even up to Tk 100,000 based on information.

He said this in response to a question from reporters after exchanging views with the superintendents of police of 10 districts of Khulna division at the office of Jashore Superintendent of Police on Tuesday (January 2).

The IGP said, "There is no fear of sabotage in the election yet. However, considering the possibilities, Bangladesh Police has taken all necessary security measures."

"If anyone has any information about sabotage, they can inform the police. Any effort to foil the election and make such attempts; strict action will be taken against them."

"If someone gives us information about saboteurs; Concealing their identities, a reward of Tk 20,000 to Tk 100,000 will be given," IGP added.

Urging the countrymen to cast their votes fearlessly, the IGP said, "During the pre and post-election days We take a kind of security measures from the police under the direction of the Election Commission. This election is no exception, we have already taken necessary measures."

Voters will go to the polling station without fear and will find police by their side, IGP said.

"A list of possible threats has been prepared according to the lists that came from the candidates. Police also have gathered a list on its way. Police will be on duty with more caution in the polling centers."

Commenting on the special security measures taken for minority groups, the IGP said, "We have taken election security keeping in mind the concerns of religious minorities. They should be able to vote safely; I have instructed all the superintendents of police in this regard. In addition, women and the elderly can vote, and the police will assist them.

"Patrolling has been intensified in risky areas. All members of the police are mentally prepared to do the next election properly," IGP said.

Khulna Range DIG Moinul Haque, Jashore Superintendent of Police Prolay Kumar Joarder, and senior police officials of Khulna division were present in the meeting.
