India has reiterated its position that Bangladesh elections are their internal matter.

New spokesperson Randhir Jaisawal said this at the weekly briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, India on Thursday (January 4).

A journalist asked if the election of Bangladesh is going to be held on January 7. Questions are being raised about the acceptability of the election because the main opposition party is not participating in the election. What is India's position on this matter?

In response, Jaisawal said, we have been constantly saying about the election of Bangladesh, the election of Bangladesh is their internal matter. The people of Bangladesh will decide their destiny.

Randhir Jaisawal did not comment on whether the journalists want to know whether India is sending a government observation team to Bangladesh or not.

According to information received from diplomatic sources, India's Senior Deputy Election Commissioner, led by Dharmendra Sharma, arrived in Dhaka on Thursday at the invitation of the Election Commission of Bangladesh. The delegation will stay in Bangladesh until the election results are announced on January 9.
