Global Firepower has released a list of where countries rank this year in terms of military power. Since 2006, this organization has been publishing annual reports on the capabilities of military forces of each country.
According to this year's report of Global Firepower, as in previous years, the United States is at the top in terms of military power. After that, Russia is in second place. And China is third and India is fourth. Thus the rest of the top 10 countries are South Korea, United Kingdom, Japan, Turkey, Pakistan and Italy. Bangladesh is at number 37 in the list.
Global Firepower has judged the military capabilities of a total of 145 countries in 2024. This is done by taking into account at least 60 factors, including countries' troop numbers, military equipment, financial stability, geographical location and acquired resources. These characteristics jointly determine the score on the strength index. The lower a country's score on this index, the more powerful it is. Bangladesh's score of 0.5419 is 37 in the Power Index. In this case, the US points at the top position is 0.0699. Only a country with a strength index of 0.0000 is considered a perfect military power. Bhutan is placed at the bottom of the list i.e. 145th position.
Releasing this year's list, Global Firepower said, "Our unique domestic formula allows smaller, technologically advanced countries to compete with larger and less-developed powers."
This multifaceted approach aims to create a more complete picture of military capabilities beyond ammunition. Global firepower, based on economic power, communications capabilities and even geography, hopes to better understand global military positions.
The issue of military capability verification is very complex and depends on various factors. However, the published list of firepower is able to give a basic idea of global military power.
