‘US-India want to see democracy and elections in Bangladesh soon’

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said, both the US and India want to see democracy and elections in Bangladesh soon.

Speaking to Siddhant Sibal, Assistant Editor of World is One News (WION), US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said this. Garcetti also said that the two countries are working in coordination on this issue.

The US diplomat said, ‘Both the US and India want to see a peaceful, democratic South Asia and we share that vision with each other. We want to make it clear that religious minorities, whether in Bangladesh or any other country, should not be persecuted and I think there is an opportunity ahead.’

‘Both the US and India want to see democracy and democratic elections in Bangladesh as soon as possible. This can help Bangladesh start its next chapter,’ added the US ambassador.

The US ambassador also believes, ‘This is not the time to dwell on past relations. "Rather, we need to think about what the United States and India can do together."
