North Korea has developed a new control system for launching multiple rockets at once which will cause a 'qualitative change' in their country's defense capabilities. AFP reports.

North Korea's state news agency KCNA reported that Pyongyang's Academic of Defense Science conducted a "successful ballistic control test firing of multiple rocket launcher shells of 240-mm caliber" on Saturday in developing a "controllable shell and ballistic control system" for launching rockets.

According to KCNA, the new rocket launcher will now be 're-evaluated' and the role of such rocket launchers in the battlefield will be 'increased'.

Nuclear-armed North Korea has this year declared South Korea its country's "main enemy", shutting down various agencies involved in reunification and propaganda and threatening war if Pyongyang seizes even 0.001 millimeter of territory in violation of territorial law.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reiterated on Friday that Pyongyang would not hesitate to "destroy" South Korea if attacked.

He called Seoul the "most dangerous, enemy number one state and arch enemy" of North Korea.

Meanwhile, South Korean President Eun Suk Yeol has vowed a tough response to Pyongyang's attacks after North Korea's threats escalated, saying if provoked, "take action first and report back later."

Since taking office in 2022, South Korea's hawkish leader has stepped up defense cooperation with the US and Japan, including joint military exercises to counter the growing threat from North Korea.
