Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has warned that such an event will bring about the "destruction" of Israel.
On Saturday (September 28), the Iranian news agency IRNA reported the information to AFP.
Aref was quoted in the report as saying, "We are warning the leaders of the occupying regime that the unjust bloodshed... especially the 'assassination' of Hezbollah Secretary General Shaheed Sayyid Hassan Nasrullah will bring their destruction." Iran will stand by the Islamic resistance.
In this incident, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his grief over Nasrallah's death and accused the United States of being "involved" in the killing.
State TV footage showed many people grieving over Nasrallah's death gathering, waving yellow Hezbollah flags and chanting "Down with Israel".
Earlier yesterday, the group confirmed the death of the head of Hezbollah.
