Donald Trump has declared himself the winner of the US presidential election though the results have not yet been officially announced. However, world leaders are congratulating and wishing the former US president after his announcement.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov appeared at a press conference on Wednesday (November 6). In response to journalists' questions about the US presidential election, he said that he was not aware of any plans for President Vladimir Putin to congratulate Trump. He said that our relations with Washington are currently at a historic low.
He said that Trump made some important statements during his campaign about wanting to end the war in Ukraine however, only time will tell whether he will take action.
Peskov said, "We must not forget that we are talking about an unfriendly country. Who is directly and indirectly involved in the war (in Ukraine) against our state."
The Kremlin spokesman said, "We have repeatedly said that the United States is capable of contributing to the end of the conflict in Ukraine." But yes, it cannot be done overnight, but... the United States is capable of changing the course of its foreign policy. Will it happen, if so, how... we will see after January (the inauguration of the US President).
Meanwhile, in a congratulatory message, French President Emmanuel Macron said, "We are ready to work together for four years for more peace and prosperity with respect and ambition...".
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu congratulated Trump on his 'greatest comeback in history'. In a post on X, he said, "Dear Donald and Melania Trump, congratulations on the greatest comeback in history! Your historic return to the White House is a new beginning for America and a message of strong commitment for the Israel-US alliance."
On the other hand, Indian Prime Minister Modi congratulated Trump, referring to him as a friend.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised Trump's commitment to the 'peace through strength' policy for global peace. This policy can play an effective role in establishing a just peace in Ukraine. Hopefully, we will work together to implement it.
