VC pool will be created for the appointment of VCs in the vacant posts of the universities, said Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni. To this end, she urged the public universities to send the list of names and CVs of the top 10 percent senior Professors of all public universities to the Ministry of Education by August 31, 2020.
The Education Minister made the call while addressing a virtual meeting on Sunday (August 9) to fill the vacancies of VC, Pro-VC and Treasurer of public and private universities in the country.
Deputy Minister of Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury MP, Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Mahbub Hossain and other senior officials of the ministry were connected with the meeting.
The minister also called to send the lists of the vacant posts of VCs, Pro-VCs and Treasurers of the private universities to the Ministry of Education by September 10. She told the meeting that the ministry would take legal action if the list was not sent within this period.
It may be mentioned that at present there are vacancies for VCs of three public universities and Pro-VCs of 25 public universities. On the other hand, there are vacancies for VCs in 19 private universities and Pro-VCs in 83 private universities.
