ACC sues Principal of Hobiganj Sheikh Hasina Medical College

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two cases alleging irregularities and corruption in the procurement of equipments for Habiganj Sheikh Hasina Medical College.

On Sunday (August 16) deputy assistant director of ACC head office Shahidur Rahman filed a case as the plaintiff. The accused in the case are Habiganj Sheikh Hasina Medical College Principal Dr. Md. Abu Sufian and Afsana Islam Kakoli, proprietor of Nirjhara Enterprise.

Mohammad Kamruzzaman, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) Habiganj office said the case was filed at the ACC's Habiganj integrated district office. He confirmed the information on Sunday night.

According to the case, the accused have committed a punishable offense by embezzling Taka 1 crore 29 lakh 33 thousand of the government by buying books at a higher price than the actual price through fraud, criminal breach of trust and abuse of power.

Deputy assistant director of the ACC head office Ferdous Rahman became the plaintiff and filed another case against Habiganj Sheikh Hasina Medical College principal Dr. Md. Abu Sufian and Md. SM Nazrul Islam Nutan, owner of Poonam Trade International, were charged.

It was mentioned in this case that they have committed a punishable crime by embezzling Taka 2 crore 14 lakh 46 thousand of the government by buying equipment at a higher price than the actual price through fraud, criminal breach of trust and abuse of power for illegal financial gain.
