There is a long-standing relationship of mutual trust and confidence between the army and the police. But some vested quarters have been trying to create mistrust over Major (Retd.) Sinha's death.

The Police Service Association believes that an attempt is being made to bring two important professional forces of the state face to face over the incident of Rashed's death.

A press release signed by BM Farman Ali, acting President of Bangladesh Police Association and Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Mazharul Islam, General Secretary and Officer-in-Charge of Jatrabari Police Station said on Monday (August 17).

The statement said the Bangladesh Police Association called upon all concerned to continue all kinds of cooperation and encouragement to establish the rule of law, strengthen the people-friendly and people-oriented police system without being distracted by such intentional propaganda.

The statement further said that Major (Retd.) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan of the Army was killed unintentionally and unexpectedly at a police check post in Cox's Bazar on the night of July 31.

A high-level inquiry committee has been constituted under the direction of the Hon'ble Prime Minister to conduct an impartial and fair inquiry into the incident. A murder case has been filed in the court on behalf of the victim's family to investigate and ensure punishment for the accused persons. The case is currently being investigated by RAB. Out of respect for the law, the accused policemen surrendered to the court as soon as possible. On last August 5, the Hon'ble Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Police visited the spot in Cox's Bazar. They then confirmed at a joint press conference that the investigation would be completed in a neutral and influence-free environment. They have declared that the organization will not bear any liability of any individual. The Chiefs of both the Armed and Police forces reiterated their commitment to work together shoulder to shoulder in various disasters and emergencies of the country. At the meeting, a joint patrol of army and police was initiated in the concerned area of Cox's Bazar district. The Bangladesh Police Association expresses its gratitude and respect to the Chiefs of the Bangladesh Army and the Bangladesh Police Force for this initiative.
